All about Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection Manager

Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan) is an application that is used for two primary functions i.e. managing remote connections and virtual machine. It facilitates all the features of organizing, deleting, adding, editing or sharing remote connections easily and at a much faster rate. This application is specifically useful for data manager and admin. They would need it more often to perform tasks such as installing or uninstalling apps, automated performance checks and more. Although establishing manual connections is possible, it can still be tiring when a large set up is involved. Remote desktop connection manager assists IT admin to deal with numerous such issues so that they can perform their task with much ease.
 
‘Remote Desktop Connection Manager’ is created by Microsoft that assists IT admin with secure and faster desktop connection facilities and addresses all the above mentioned desktop connection management issues. Basically, it has the same function as the native remote desktop client yet it offers more flexible and convenient approach to admin task. It is a free app from Microsoft that eases the task of managing multiple remote desktop connections from a remote location. It is designed to manage server labs to perform tasks such as easy access to data centers and automated checking systems. Remote Desktop Connection Manager is compatible Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 R2.

To start using Remote Desktop Connection Manager, users will have to download and install it manually. It can be obtained from the Microsoft Download Center.

Advantages:
  • It facilitates admin to create different groups based on location and configuration settings.
  • You can save the global setting at a group level.  The group server will inherit the setting and then be able to configure them individually.
  • The app can be applied both at the server level of the group level. It can also adapt to various screen resolution, however admin can change the resolution whenever they want.
  • Connected servers can be previewed through the main window.
Installation:
Windows 7 users can easily install the app without making any prior upgrade. However, Windows XP users have to install RDC (Remote Desktop Client) of version 6 or higher. Once the system meets the requirements, installation will be pretty straight forward.
